Detective Herbert W. Carruthers began his career in Law Enforcement when he graduated from the Long Beach Police Academy in California in 1993. After relocating to Northern Arizona, he graduated from the Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy (sponsored by Northland Pioneer Colleague) in 2002 where he received his Sworn Police Officer certification in the State of Arizona. Herb is an accomplished law enforcement professional with over twenty years experience in the following capacities:

Since joining the department in 2013, Herb has conducted formal training classes pertaining to liquor laws and fake ID recognition to law enforcement officers within the State of Arizona. Herb has conducted several briefings to officers prior to details and regular patrol shifts as a means of topic specific training. He has educated alcohol awareness to high school students and community events around the state, with his primary focus in the Communities of Northern Arizona. In addition to his work experience, Herb holds a Master's degree in Business Administration Management, a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with three majors (Forensic Science, Law Enforcement and Special Populations), graduating Summa Cum Laude and an Associate's degree in Business Administration.
