Liquor Board Meetings
Since 1967, the Department of Liquor Licenses and Control (Department) consists of the State Liquor Board (Board) and the Office of the Director of the Department (Laws 1967, Ch. 133 § 3). The Board is a quasi-judicial body that operates independently from the Director. Matters that come before the Board include appeals of a Director's Decision and Order, requests for rehearing or reconsideration of a Board decision, and hearings on liquor license applications. A hearing is scheduled if a license application is protested by the Director, a member of the public, or if disapproval is recommended by the local governing body of a city, town or county. The Board has the authority to grant or deny issuance of a liquor license after hearing the arguments of the applicant and the protesting party.
